Three people who spent a career saying "this is the best," and meaning it.
cobesa was founded by Chris Sachs, Henry Coleman, and Fred Berns.
Fred Berns spent 15 years as President and General Manager of Hammacher Schlemmer, the American retailer that has been finding, testing, and standing behind the best products in the world since 1848. The Hammacher Schlemmer Institute did not take manufacturer word for it. They tested. They verified. They published verdicts. Henry Coleman ran marketing at Hammacher for over a decade. Chris Sachs built the web operation that sold it, then recruited Henry to join him at a SaaS startup, where they spent years helping customers actually adopt technology that was supposed to change their lives.
The founding insight came from a conversation about moments in tech history. The ones where you saw it coming and did not move. Humanoid robots are one of those moments. Except this time, nobody was doing the job Hammacher taught us to do: cut through the noise, test against reality, and tell people the truth about what they are actually buying. So we built cobesa.
The humanoid robot category needs fewer press releases and more owner's manual energy. The right question is not which robot is best. It is which robot belongs in your life, and whether the honest answer is "none of them yet".
Be early. Never foolish.
